Heraclitus

"To men, somethings are good and some are bax. But to God, all things are good and beautiful and just." Men see things in a much more negative light than God. It is his creation though therefore he is bound to like it. It is just a personal opinion, but i think that it is not just a more negative view, but it is a more relastic view of life. Life is not always going to be good and perfect. A large part of life is incredibly difficult and really sucks. They also say "The sun is new everyday." So even though things are not always good and beautiful each day is a new day. Its a fresh start, and a new chance at something beautiful. I found this very optimistic about God, but not so much about man.

  1. "So even though things are not always good and beautiful each day is a new day. It’s a fresh start, and a new chance at something beautiful." I really liked the way you put that. It was very insightful. I really liked everything in the Heraclitus reading except for the quote "To men, some things are good and some are bad. But to God, all things are good and beautiful and just." I honestly felt irritated that someone would try to suggest that God finds all things “good and beautiful and just.” He may have been going more with the take that you had that human beings tend to be more negative and see things in black and white when it comes to judgment while God can find goodness, beauty, and justice in the grey area, but that quote just bothers me. I’m sure it’s not what he had in mind, but does God find rape, child molestation, or genocide good, beautiful, and just? Certainly not the one I feel I know.
